Insightful…

I found this gem in my “drafts” section, written December 9, 2008.

“You know, we don’t grow most of the food we eat. We wear clothes other people make. We speak a language that other people developed. We use a mathematics that other people evolved. I mean, we’re constantly taking things. It’s a wonderful, ecstatic feeling to create something that puts it back in the pool of human experience and knowledge” – Steve Jobs.

This is a quote that I found somewhere on the intarnetz a while back ago. Steve Jobs makes a valid point. We as humans have been very dependent on other people, and we really don’t know how to take care of our own selves. I mean, honestly, you can’t say for sure (unless you’re a Boy Scout or something) that you can be thrown in the woods with nothing but the clothes on your back and survive.

Our nation is dependent on technology. Steve Jobs is happy to create something that is put in human knowledge. And he should be! Millions of dollars are going to him because of the Apple.

Ever notice people walking, or in their cars, or in public transportation? More than half of them probably have those little white earbuds in their ears. I am one of those people.

Do we all live inside our technology? Do we constantly need to be plugged in to be entertained? Are we even in need of all this tripe? Alright…t’s not like I need my iPod, it would just be really boring if I didn’t have it.

I guess we’re so advanced that we can’t stand to think about regressing. I don’t know, I think this dependence is getting out of hand. What do you think?

Nice quote from Steve Jobs, though.

My feeling is that my writing style has indeed changed. I don’t know why I didn’t publish this, I think it’s kickass. But I have to admit, my use of scattered punctuation seems rather juvenile.
