My loyal readers would know that I use StumbleUpon a lot, so I find really cool sites that I wouldn’t have found otherwise.

A (very) long time ago, I found this thing called Hype Machine. The site looked really cool, but I wasn’t truly interested in it. But for some reason, I got into it very recently. It IS summer, after all, and I’m always open to listening to some good music.

The interface is fairly intuitive, Im really digging the design. Plus, when you click on a link, the page you were on slides away and the page that you want slides in! That part is difficult to explain, you have to see for yourself. It’s freaking amazing. Plus, you have to admit that the lime green and heartsy design is pretty freaking adorable.

I think I was drawn to HypeM two days ago when I was on LastFM (by the way, the new and improved artist radio is great!) and I saw a link for it…somewhere. I don’t remember exactly where. I clicked on the Twitter interactive music chart and played some of the top songs. That was the moment I got hooked. Who would have thought that listening to remixes for two hours in a row could be so fun? And for those DJs that remixed Michael Jackson with my favorite electro artists, I SALUTE YOU. I created an account post haste.

Maybe I should elaborate on the Twitter interactive music chart. If you have a Twitter, you can hook it up to HypeM and get it to automatically generate tweets when you love a song on the site (hence, the hearts). You basically “donate” points to a song when you love it, adding it to the top song chart. The amount of points you are allocated depends on how many people you follow and how many people are following you. There’s a special algorithim for generating this ratio, I don’t want to get into the logistics of it. Point is, it’s a fun game to play.

This site plays mostly electro/house whatnot music (as far as I see it), so I’m pretty much sold on this site. Some people might not be. I understand that.

So all in all, I’m hooked. I wouldn’t be surprised if I spent all day on this little site (I’m actually listening to stuff right now). There’s a widget on my sidebar. It’s big and green, you won’t miss it. You can check out which songs I loved! Haha, my musical interests might irk some people, but if it’s something I can dance to, I really don’t care! (A particular remix that I enjoy is the one with about 16 artists mashed into 5 minutes. I’m not a top 40 fan, but this one song was really enjoyable).
